Missouri Ozarks Mensa Events
Missouri Ozarks Mensa has events every month, and four events that take place yearly. All members (and guests) are welcome to attend. The Calendar Page lists the schedule of these events with additional information including contact information, maps and directions. Any Member is welcome and encouraged to organiza or host any activity. You don't need anyone's permission. The Steering Committee's job is to maintain the chapter's infrastructure (get the newsletter out, pay the postage bill, offer the qualification test from time to time, recruit new members etc.) and to see that there is one quarterly gathering or activity for the membership. Anything else that appears on the calendar of events is instigated by a member who cares enough to organize and host the gathering or activity. All one needs to do is to decide what, where, and when, and then send the information to the calendar editor, whose name and address appear in each Illuminate, by the published calendar deadline. Monthly Events
SATURDAY LUNCH BUNCH
We gather at area restaurants one Saturday in the middle of each month, usualy at 1pm, to enjoy fellowship and discussions over a meal.
Steering Committee Meetings are normally held at an area restaurant or in a member's home. We meet monthly, to plan programs and conduct the business and financial management of our chapter.
Other Events. We hope that members will host events in the area. Pot-luck dinners, dinners at local area restaurants, book club at area bookstores or libraries, and other discussions or get-togethers can be held at various venues will be posted to the Events Calendar Page as they can be scheduled.
Annual Events
Steering Committee Elections. Held in early March, members elect their Steering Committee members by mail-in ballot that will be included in the February newsletter with a deadline of mid-March to assure the transision to the new Committee in time for the April start of term.
Election Party. This get-together is to count the ballots for the Steering Committee election in a fun atmosphere of fellowship and good food, and is open all members. Since the elections should take place in March, this party should be in late March.
Member Appreciation Picnic. We would like to plan this for late autumn in one of the area parks and enjoy lunch, recognition for contributions to Missouri Ozarks Mensa during the year, and typical picnic activities.
